Continuity and Online Teaching Resources for Faculty

We have published continuity resources for faculty in this article - please check this for support and ideas as we adjust to online teaching. We have also created an article containing best practice measures and technical tools to help you communicate with your class, make learning materials available, conduct and measure assessment, and measure participation. If you would like to set up virtual office hours, please read this article to learn how.

Collaboration Tools

In Fall 2020, you may continue to use Google Meet or Zoom to conduct Synchronous class sessions.

For Google Meet: You can use this tool to conduct online synchronous course sessions, and create and post lecture capture material. Here's an article on how to change the layout on Google Meet so you can see your entire class.

For Zoom: FAQ's and Getting Started Documentation, can be found here. As of July 2020, we are currently working on setting up this tool as well as an integration with Blackboard - once this has been completed, we will reach out to you with documentation, training, and resources.

Blackboard Annotate Tool

For Inline grading of Assignments, Blackboard has been developing and refining a better tool for marking up and commenting on a student submission to an assignment. This feature, called “BB Annotate” is now available for your use. Here is our Knowledge Base Article on this new tool.

Blackboard Avatar Service

The old Avatar/profile image service that had been used on Blackboard was deprecated. We have launched a new, easier-to-use service for Avatar/Profile pictures on Blackboard. Go here to learn more about it and how to use it!

Technical Support Available

Even during remote periods, IT Client Services will be available during normal hours (8AM-7PM Mon-Thurs, 8AM-5PM Fridays) remotely, and you can set up virtual meetings with us throughout the day at a time and date of your convenience for help with Blackboard or other online tools, by completing the LMS consultation form, or you may reach out to servicedesk@saintpeters.edu for any technical inquiries and assistance needed.
