One of the major changes between Blackboard Original and Blackboard Ultra is the Gradebook, replacing the Grade Center. This tool has become more robust, with more features for grading and tracking progress. In August 2026, additional elements of the Gradebook in Ultra have been updated, and new resources were developed to support faculty on how to use this area of their course. This article provides access to training and information on the Gradebook in Blackboard Ultra for faculty usage.
Assessment results settings determine visibility and type of results users gain access to after completing an assessment (Test), as well as when they will gain this access. These options are set on the Settings panel within a Blackboard Assessment. This article provides documentation on how to manage assessment results settings.
Blackboard Ultra courses allow faculty to drag and drop contents to manage and reorder files and folders, however this process may prove difficult due to excess amounts of content on the screen, or for those with technical or physical limitations. This video shows how to use the keyboard to reorder content as an alternate solution to drag-and-drop.
On May 18, 2024, Blackboard will be updated from Learn Original to Ultra Base Navigation. Courses themselves will remain the same with a color scheme change. The update significantly changes navigational components between courses and provides new consolidated areas for viewing and managing courses and grades, as well as an activity feed that provides updates.
