Apporto

Apporto is a service that provides members of the Saint Peter's community with access to University-managed software applications in a virtual environment.  In simple terms, this means you can access a wide variety of applications from just about anywhere. You can even access an entire virtual Windows workstation through Apporto.

Apporto is platform agnostic, so you can access these programs on a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chrome device (we don't currently support using Apporto on smartphones and tablets).  This is particularly useful to students who need to do classwork in one of the student labs located around the campus.

Among the applications available to the Saint Peter's community are:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • IBM SPSS 25
  • Alice
  • GIMP
  • Apache NetBeans IDE
  • Python
  • Cygwin Terminal
  • MySQL Workbench
  • R x64
  • Eclipse
  • Notepad++
  • RStudio
  • PaintNET

You should be logged into your Saint Peter's Google account before accessing Apporto, and once you've done this, you can select it as a single sign-on method instead of having to manually enter user credentials.

You can get started by clicking on the Access Apporto link on this page, or alternately you can find Apporto in the waffle menu in your Saint Peter's GMail account.  For more information on accessing Apporto, please see Accessing Software via Apporto.

Apporto is used to access software available to the Saint Peter’s community from your web browser. This article describes how to access and use individual virtualized software applications via Apporto. For a better experience, you may wish to choose the Apporto Desktop, which will allow you to run one or more Apporto applications within a simulated PC interface.
